monkey business...

i want one!
this dress is pretty awesome.

progressive record store politics...

found this interesting article in the east bay express on the downfall of tower records, and how amoeba is making progress & using good business tactics to work with the download revolution era music fans (allowing people to purchase new cds and return them for 75% store credit within one week--just enough time to open them and rip them and then return them)...

woo. i can listen to KQED online at work. 'bout time they unblocked the website... why is it bad to be following the news? silly silly work...

sunset lights the way over my bay...

mood: stir-crazy.
music: 2004 kscu fall fundraiser (good stuff!), hard to believe i've been gone for more than a year already...

summer is over. wah! im feeling the itch to make myself busy again because it feels like i should be going back to school... only for the first time i don't have to! which is amazing, but makes me feel lazy in a way. so i am going to take another pilates class & a kickboxing class at san jose city college.

i just got back from disneyland (i actually returned last wednesday). it was a good time... went on all the rides i wanted (except the matterhorn because i was so exhausted i thought my legs were going to fall off!). but i did get to see johnny depp make several appearances in the yet-again-remodeled pirates of the carribean. im not to approve of messing with the classics, but it was pretty comical. speaking of pirates... pirates stuff is EVERYWHERE!! its beyond trendy...

i am missing going to shows as well! i can't even remember the last actual "show" show i went to... since i dont consider big music festivals (bfd) as being a show. i miss going up to san francisco. i need to stop being lazy! here are some shows i wouldnt mind going to:

9/9: damone @ slims (but i will be outta town!)
9/20: lawrence arms @ bottom of the hill.
9/23: phoenix @ slims.
9/30: gossip @ bottom of the hill (also playing 10/1)
10/2: we are scientists & art brut @ the fillmore.
10/13: clap your hands say yeah + architecture in helsinki @ the warfield.
10/14: subtle @ bottom of the hill.
10/16: ladytron @ the fillmore.
10/17: the hold steady @ gamh.
10/28: alias & tarsier @ bottom of the hill.
11/21: mates of state @ gamh (or 11/22).

there is one show i am going to (meaning i am being a nice girlfriend), and that is guns'n'roses on sept. 20. haha. i have no idea what to expect. i also am going to the download festival (for free! + VIP! yay!). heart is also playing sept. 6 @ the mt. winery... which i cant afford but would totally go to! i adore heart. haha.

ok. my computer is being completely freakish and keeps turning off and on giving me a heart attack each time. time to reboot.

xoxoxox.

my brain is staging a protest for more caffeine.

i can really feel the friday-ness of today. and not in that happy kinda way where the air is light, but it's more of the... my head and my body ache and i want to go home and relax but really i have one million point five things to do.

although, i often find myself feeling MORE tired when i go home and watch tv or read instead of moving about and doing stuff for myself, my boyfriend or our home (apartment). i think i will indulge in a little of both and run to target to pick up some things (storage boxes + bathing suit + bras) and then go home and watch battlestar galactica and unpack/get rid/organize the house.

i don't really have a reason for writing a blog other than to post the above picture with a link to the blog post. check it out. check out music for america in general. register to vote. then actually go & vote. ummmmmmmmmm my brain hurts. time to go. ta-ta. (hey i just noticed i posted a blog five days in a row! i deserve a prize).

burn baby burn... burned out!

im totally burned out on work. this was one of those wavering days... should i go to work? or should i stay home? or should i take a half day? maybe i can leave early? but i sucked it up and went to work. big mistake.

i dont know how i feel about the news of heath ledger playing the joker in "the dark knight"--the next batman sequel. isn't he too pretty? i'd rather have seen someone like buscemi (who was in consideration at one point--i think--), who cares if he's not a big name draw. ledger's joker is supposed to be very creepy and very extreme....... hmmmm. we'll see. i liked batman begins a lot, so i have hope for the next one.

ok. im tired of this blog.

PERVERTS!

the wednesday afternoon slump.

mood: distracted.
music: more somaFM (it's the only thing i can get work online @ work!)

i'm day dreaming about 7-11's coffee happy hour (50 cents!) which begins in forty minutes at 4:00. i think i might have to leave the desk and stroll on down the street. yeah. that sounds about right.

NICOLE UPDATES:
i applied for the music liaison position at music for america. they loved me & thought i was perfect but not perfect exactly because i have a full-time job! they need the intern to be able to work from the san francisco office, and they are only open from like 10-6 p.m. monday through friday! @#$!(@(!!! DAMNERS!! but they are an outreach organization! doesn't that mean flexible hours? oh well. my dreams are crushed. oh well. paying the rent is kinda rad too. :) plus, i can still do outreach for them down here in the south bay.

i just finished reading the nanny diaries, which was a mildly entertaining fluff book, that was exaggerated in a absurd-comedic sense... but makes you frustrated because it pushes you towards your breaking point. i think i might have trouble sitting through this when it makes it's screen adaptation... i might want to punch the screen. it will probably be a similar experience to watching 'the devil wears prada'.

i went swimming--as in doing laps-- this morning at the campbell community center. i had to pay five bucks. i felt uncomfortable because i didnt have a one piece swimsuit, or goggles, or a swimming cap like everyone else. i showed up in my little make-shift swimsuit, which was my bottom piece (a black bottom) and a sports bra with a black tank top over it... all items courtesy of target. i felt W.E.I.R.D. once i got in the pool i felt more at ease, but i had to ask this guy if he would "split the lane" with me (i learned something new today!). he asked where my goggles were and i said i didnt have any. AWKWARD! then i did laps for about thirty minutes and felt like jello trying to pull myself out of the pool. must have been a pretty good workout. i think i will continue at least once maybe twice a week. if anyone cares to join me that would be FANTASTIC. maybe we can SPLIT A LANE. ahaahahhhaaa. and i think i might be going back to target to try and find a one-piece suit.

OK. that's all for now. almost time for caffiene injection.

an uncomfortable feeling.

and that feeling is bloated! feeling bloated is one of the most uncomfortable feelings ever! even if you haven't even eaten anything, you still feel full and fat and gross. its like whatever food or liquids you have consumed are in limbo, and don't want to pass through one way or another.

i feel like this squirrel:

and there's nothing you can really do to help it! luckily it's cold enough at work that i can put on a sweater and hide my bloatedness. i suppose drinking some black coffee could always help. aha. okay. i'm starting to sound like rich.

work is going well, which means super busy, which means bringing work stuff home with me to do. oh well.

im going to disneyland in a couple of weeks, which i'm really looking forward to. haven't had any vacations this summer yet, so anything counts! plus we're actually staying in a hotel and doing the whole park hopper thing--which definitely qualifies for an official vacation. still wouldn't mind doing a road trip or something, or maybe saving up some money to go to the east coast in the fall (boston? new england?).

ok. back to being bloated...

music: SomaFM- secret agent & indie pop rocks! (the connection keeps getting lost!)
mood: one guess...
